Just in time for the International Museum Day next Sunday, May 18, the first city bus featuring “The Inspiring Six – World Heritage in Saxony-Anhalt" campaign design was unveiled today in Dessau-Roßlau. Dessau Transport GmbH (DVG) will be bringing the strikingly designed vehicle to the streets of the Bauhaus city for a year. Other modes of transport will follow soon in other cities in Saxony-Anhalt.
"This bus brings the World Heritage sites into the heart of the city – a mobile invitation to experience these important places," said Domenik Pasemann, Head of Communications and Press Spokesperson for the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation at the presentation. "The rolling presence here in Dessau-Roßlau also draws attention to the Bauhaus anniversary in 2025/26." Hannes Wolf, Managing Director of the Dessau-Roßlau City Marketing Company, emphasized: "The bus design makes our World Heritage visible in the cityscape and underscores the cultural significance it has for the identity of our citizens and for tourism in our city and region." Torsten Ceglarek, Managing Director of DVG, explained: "With the bus, World Heritage is not only visible, but also accessible on the move. Exactly where people live, work, and travel."
The campaign “The Inspiring Six - World Heritage in Saxony-Anhalt" is being implemented by the Investment and Marketing Company Saxony-Anhalt mbH (IMG) on behalf of the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture. The state's World Heritage sites and their relevance are continually brought to the public's attention in a new and fresh way. With five cultural sites, two biosphere reserves, and valuable documents, Saxony-Anhalt offers an outstanding concentration of UNESCO World Heritage sites – six of which will be highlighted together as part of the campaign.
International Museum Day will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Numerous museums and institutions in Saxony-Anhalt will open their doors. UNESCO World Heritage sites in Saxony-Anhalt also invite visitors to explore the region with a variety of activities.
With the implementation of the "Experience World Culture in Saxony-Anhalt 2020-2025" action plan, the UNESCO World Heritage site is a long-term focus of the state government's work.
